About Wayne Laufer, PE

Wayne Laufer received his BSCE from UMR in 1967. His career in offshore oil exploration and development began that year at Shell Oil. In 1977 he co founded S.A. Holditch & Associates, now a part of Schlumberger. In 1998 Wayne co-founded Bois d’Arc Offshore, LTD, which became Bois d’Arc Energy. Bois d’Arc Energy has concentrated on exploring, drilling, completing, operating, and producing natural gas and oil reserves in the Gulf of Mexico region. In five years the company drilled 54 exploration wells and 38 development wells. In 2005 Bois d’Arc Energy was taken public on the NYSE with Wayne as president and CEO. The company was sold in 2008. In 2009 Wayne and his wife announced a gift to endow a chair in energy research at Missouri S&T. Their gift is the largest for an endowed faculty position ever received by the University of Missouri system. Wayne received his professional degree from S&T in 2009. He and his wife, Gayle are members of the Order of the Golden Shillelagh. They live in Sanibel, Fla. and Friday Harbor, Wash.z
