About Michael J. McEvilly, PE

Mike McEvilly received his BSCE from UMR in 1980 and an MS in Engineering Management in 1981, also from UMR. He has spent his career in the oil and gas industry with positions with Cities Service Oil & Gas Corporation, then Facilities and Construction Manager Deepwater Worldwide with Anadarko Petroleum Corp., then Vice-President of Capital Projects with Helix Energy Solutions, and currently as Senior Executive Vice President of Operations for Spitzer Industries, Inc. In that position he principally oversees the design and fabrication operations of approximately 1000 employees in four facilities totaling 525,000 square feet, manufacturing process and subsea equipment used in offshore oil and gas production operations. He is a member of several technical societies, professional societies and advisory boards, was named the Young Engineer of the Year by Sam Houston Chapter for the state of Texas, received the Distinguished Achievement Award for Projects at the Offshore Technology Conference for the years 2007 and 2010, for the Marco Polo Tension-Leg Platform in 4,300 feet of water, and the Independence Hub Semi-Submersible in 8,000 feet of water respectively, both of which were record water depths at the time of installation. Mike is a member of the Elks Lodge, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shriners. He has served as a Little League coach and umpire and in youth basketball and soccer as a coach and umpire. In his student days at UMR, Mike was the president of Chi Epsilon, Blue Key and Intercollegiate Knights. He is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and was named a National Top Teke in 1980. He is a member of the Order of the Golden Shillelagh, and will be inducted into the Academy of Engineering Management this April. Mike lives in Spring, Texas with his wife Mary, who is also a graduate of UMR.
