About Ranney McDonough, PE

Ranney McDonough received his BSCE from UMR in 1966. Through Army ROTC, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and volunteered for Army Rotary Wing Flight School. A little over two years later, he was flying for the 187th Assault Helicopter Company in Vietnam. Captain McDonough was there during Tet 1968, flying the III Corps Commanding General. He left the Army in 1969 to begin his civil engineering career. In 1977 he founded McDonough Engineering in Houston, Texas. Since then his company has completed the civil engineering design of many projects in the Texas Gulf Coast Region. Projects have included commercial, industrial, public works, governmental and transportation. Ranney is a member of several technical/professional societies and has served on the Executive Board of the Bay Area Houston Transportation Partnership and is a Past President of the Harris County (Texas) Flood Control Task Force. He is a member of S&T’s Order of the Golden Shillelagh and is active in the Alumni Association Houston Section. Ranney has supported the Boy Scouts, the American Festival for the Arts and Houston Livestock Show. Ranney and his wife, Linda, live in Houston, Texas.
